Update drive databases
The drive database includes information such as drive temperature, compatibility list, and firmware updates. This database updates automatically and periodically to keep compatibility information up to date, without affecting drive performance.
You can also choose to update immediately or manually using the Synology HDD/SSD Offline Update Pack obtained from the Download Center.
To update the drive database, follow these steps:
- Go to Appliance Console > Storage Manager > Drive Information and click on a drive.
- Click Settings > Update Now or Manual Update.
Note:
- The database will be automatically updated when you insert a new drive into your ActiveProtect appliance.
- We recommend manually updating the database in the following situations:
- There is an issue with the drive temperature detection mechanism.
- The system couldn't recognize a drive listed on the Synology Products Compatibility List.
- The system couldn't connect to the Synology server.
