Storage
At Virtual Machine Manager > Storage, you can create storage for virtual machines, as well as monitor the status and usage of each storage. All virtual disks of the virtual machines are thin provisioned. There are two types of storage: local storage and remote storage, depending on where the virtual machines run. If the virtual machine and its storage are on the same host, it is called the local storage. If the remote storage is used, the performance of the storage might be affected by the speed of the cluster network interface.
To create a storage:
- Go to Storage Manager and create a volume that will be used as storage for virtual machines first.
- Click Add.
- All volumes on the host will be shown. Select one.
- Specify a name and set the Low on space threshold. You can choose whether you would like to be notified each time when the free space falls 1% below this threshold value.
- Follow the instructions to complete the setup.
- You can only choose BTRFS volume as Virtual Machine storage.
- If there is less than 2GB of free space, the storage will become Full. The threshold cannot be modified.
Note:
To rename a storage:
- Select the desired storage from the list.
- Click Action > Edit and enter a new name.
To delete a storage:
- Select the desired storage from the list.
- Click Delete to delete the storage from the cluster.
- If there are still virtual machines existing on the storage, you may choose whether to reserve the virtual machine data or not. You may import the data after the storage is added to another cluster.
Note:
- The storage cannot be deleted if it contains any running virtual machines.
To switch to Storage Manager of different hosts:
- Click Manage, and choose the IP address you want to connect to.
