What should I keep in mind before updating my Synology Router to SRM 1.3?

Details

A few points to keep in mind before updating your Synology Router to SRM 1.3:

  • The Wireless Repeater (WDS) mode is currently not supported.
  • Restoring configurations between SRM 1.2 and SRM 1.3 is not supported. To restore configurations to a Synology Router, the first two version numbers (e.g., 1.2 in SRM 1.2.5) of the router's SRM must be the same as that of the configuration file. Refer to this article for more information.
  • SRM 1.3 provides new default wallpapers; some SRM 1.2 wallpapers will be replaced.

SSH logins

  • The user account "admin" will be deactivated by default. It cannot be used for SSH logins.
  • User accounts with administrative privileges can be used for SSH logins as root.

Wi-Fi networks

  • The SRM version of the primary router should be higher than that of any other Wi-Fi point.
  • Time valid for accessing the guest network will be reset to zero after an update from SRM 1.2 to SRM 1.3.

Discontinued features and packages

  • Cloud Station
  • Smart Connect schemes, including signal strength-oriented and load balancing-oriented
  • Wi-Fi performance test
