Recording List

In Recording > Recording List, you can play, download, label, lock, and delete recordings. The recordings of deleted cameras are reserved here as well.

Manage Recordings

To filter recordings:

Use the buttons and filters on the right side of the page.

  • Click or to switch between List view and Thumbnail view.
  • Click and set conditions to find specific clips.
  • Use the Filter by Date list.

To play recordings:

Click on the thumbnail of a clip. See Recording Player for detailed operations.

To download recordings:

  1. Select a recording and click Download.
  2. Specify the time of the recording. The maximum length is 4 hours.
  3. Add watermark: Tick the checkbox to add a watermark to the recording. You can select one or both types of watermarks:
    • Text watermark: Tick the checkbox and specify the Text, Font, Position, and Opacity settings.
    • Image watermark: Tick the checkbox, click Browse to select a file, and specify the Position, Size, and Opacity settings.
  4. Save as: Enter a name for the recording.
  5. Download with privacy masking: Tick the checkbox if you wish to include the privacy masking zones in the downloaded recording.
  6. Protect with password: Tick the checkbox if you wish to protect the downloaded recording with a one-time password.
  7. Click Download. The file will be saved in MP4 format.

Note:

  • Watermarks are only available on Synology Surveillance Station Client.
  • Watermarks can only use fonts already installed on your computer.
  • Watermarks will be disabled if you enable password protection for downloaded recordings.
  • Supported watermark image formats: BMP, JPG, JPEG, PNG.
  • Recordings with watermarks cannot be authenticated by Synology Evidence Integrity Authenticator.
  • If the recordings you wish to download are in different resolutions, watermarks cannot be added.

To label recordings:

  1. Select recordings and click Label.
  2. To create a new label, click Create new, enter a name and select a color, then click Create. You can add up to 10 labels.
  3. To use an existing label, click Label, select a label, and click Apply.

To edit/delete labels:

  1. Click Label > Manage Labels.
  2. To edit, select a label and click Edit, modify the name and color, then click Save.
  3. To delete, select a label and click Delete.
  4. Click OK.

To lock/unlock recordings:

Locking recordings prevents them from being removed by the delete button or archive rotation settings. Select recordings, click Lock/Unlock and select an option.

Note:

  • You cannot lock recordings that are still recording.

To delete recordings:

Select recordings, click Delete, and select an option.

To truncate video recording:

Right-click on a clip that is still recording and click Truncate the recording. Surveillance Station will stop the recording immediately, save the recorded portion, and start another clip for continuous recording.

To change the viewing mode of recordings:

Click to switch between List view and Thumbnail view.

To share recordings:

  1. Right-click on a recording and click Share file link.
  2. In the Link tab, you can find the Download Link and View Link. Click to copy the links or to open the view link in a new tab.
  3. In the Embedded tab, you can find the embedded HTML code of the selected recorded clip. Click to copy the code or to play the embedded video in a new tab.
