Advanced Media Extensions

Advanced Media Extensions (AME) allows you to view multimedia files that require certain codecs on your Synology NAS.

Note:

  • AME no longer supports AAC and HEVC (H.265) conversion. To play these files, convert these files before uploading them to your Synology NAS. For other methods of displaying HEVC (H.265) files, please refer to this FAQ.
  • For Synology High Availability (SHA) users, the codecs installed in AME will only work on the initial active server if the cluster is removed.
