VPN Server
VPN Server is an add-on package that enables your Synology NAS to become a VPN (virtual private network) server, allowing DSM users over the Internet to access resources shared within the Synology product's local area network. For more information about VPN, refer to here.

Back up and Restore
You can back up VPN Server and restore it to a previous version via Hyper Backup.
To back up VPN Server:
- Go to Hyper Backup, click + on the bottom left corner, and select Data backup task to create a backup task.
- Follow the Backup Wizard's instructions, and choose VPN Server when you are prompted to select applications to back up.
- After the backup task is complete, the PPTP/OpenVPN/L2TP configuration files, general settings, and privilege will be backed up.
To restore VPN Server:
- Go to Hyper Backup, and click Restore on the bottom left corner.
- Select Data and select the desired backup task for restoration.
- Follow the Restore Wizard's instructions to complete the task. The current PPTP/OpenVPN/L2TP configuration files, general settings, and privilege of VPN Server will be overwritten.
Note:
- The content of connection list and log will not be backed up or restored.
- The package Hyper Backup supports VPN Server 1.2-2423 (or later).
