Package Activation
To comprehensively activate the package functionality and latest updates offered by the free Active Backup for Business, please register Synology Account and enter your credentials when activating this package.
A welcome page will appear for the purpose of package activation when Active Backup for Business is launched for the first time, or when it is reinstalled after the previous configurations were deleted. When you log into your DSM from a PC that is connected to the Internet, you can activate Active Backup for Business simply by clicking the Activate button on the welcome page. As for some companies that do not have Internet connection at their data center due to privacy concerns, we have created the link No network connection? for activating Active Backup for Business when DSM is logged in from a PC that is not connected to the Internet.
This article guides you through how to activate Active Backup for Business when your DSM is logged in from a PC that is either with or without Internet connection. Package activation with or without Internet connection merely means the PC used for logging in your DSM is connected or is not connected to the Internet, respectively. It does not refer to whether your Synology NAS is connected or not connected to the Internet. Please note that Synology NAS can work in the Intranet environment and does not necessarily need to connect to the Internet.
Note:
- When logging into your DSM from a PC without Internet connection, you will need to prepare another device (e.g., mobile phone) that is connected to the Internet to activate Active Backup for Business.

Activation with Internet Connection
When your DSM is logged in from a PC that is connected to the Internet, please do the following to activate Active Backup for Business:
- Go to DSM and launch Active Backup for Business. On the welcome page, click Activate.
- Read the Privacy Statement carefully and then tick the checkbox I have read and agree to the privacy statement. Click Next.
- Enter the email address and password of your Synology Account and click Activate.
- Click OK to start using the package.
Activation without Internet Connection
When your DSM is logged in from a PC that is not connected to the Internet, please do the following to activate Active Backup for Business:
- Go to DSM and launch Active Backup for Business. On the welcome page, click the link No network connection?
- Read the description in the Offline Activation window carefully.
- Use another device that is connected to the Internet and open the URL https://sy.to/abb shown in the Offline Activation window.
- Read the Privacy Statement carefully and then tick the checkbox I have read and agree to the privacy statement. Click Next.
- On the device with Internet connection, enter the email address and password of your Synology Account and the request ID shown on the Offline Activation window. Click Get Activation Code.
- Remember the set of activation code shown on your device, and enter it in the Activation code column in the Offline Activation window.
- Click Activate to activate and start using the package.
