Storage
This page details the status of storage volumes and iSCSI LUNs (Block-Level) on the active and passive servers of the high-availability cluster.
Because the capacity and configurations of the corresponding volumes and iSCSI LUNs (Block-Level) on the active and passive servers must be identical, the volumes and iSCSI LUN (Block-Level) on the two servers are displayed together as single units. Therefore, if you wish to view the status of volumes and iSCSI LUNs (Block-Level) of both the active and passive servers, you must go to the Storage page (when accessing a high-availability cluster, only volumes and iSCSI LUNs (Block-Level) on the active server are viewable in Storage Manager).
Volume
This page contains the following information:
- Name: Displays the names of volumes and iSCSI LUNs (Block-Level).
- Used: Displays the space of used capacity of volumes and iSCSI LUNs (Block-Level).
- Free space: Displays the remaining available space.
- Capacity: Displays total and used capacity of volumes and iSCSI LUNs (Block-Level).
- Status: Displays the status of volumes, iSCSI LUNs (Block-Level) and SSD caches.
- Details: Displays description of errors or other information pertaining to the volume, iSCSI LUN (Block-Level) and SSD cache.
To repair a malfunctioning volume or iSCSI LUN (Block-Level):
- If a volume on one of the servers has crashed, it will be displayed on the Storage page. You can go to the HDD/SSD page to find out the drive on which the volume is built and needs to be replaced. In this case, please do the following:
- Replace the failed drive (for steps regarding drive installation, refer to the Hardware Installation Guide for your Synology product).
- Go to the Volume page and click Repair.
- If the passive server is offline, the status of volumes and iSCSI LUNs (Block-Level) will indicate an error has occurred, and none of the drives on the passive server will appear on the HDD/SSD page. In this case, you can attempt to resolve the problem by doing the following:
- Make sure the passive server is powered on.
- Check all power supplies.
- Examine all connections.
- If a file system error occurs on a volume or iSCSI LUN (Block-Level) on one of the servers, please do the following:
- Go to the Volume page.
- Click Repair.
Note:
- The limit of volumes and iSCSI LUNs (Block-Level) on a high-availability cluster is 64.
HDD/SSD
The status of the drives is displayed in this tab.
By selecting a drive and clicking the Health Info button, you can check the details or run a S.M.A.R.T. test.
Note:
- Do not change the drive position of the drives once a volume has been created or you will risk losing the volume.
