Enable self-service restore
Enable self-service restore to grant non-administrative users access to the Recovery Portal, allowing them to browse and restore data for increased efficiency.
The method to enable self-service restores depends on the workload type:
For machines
Map machines to a specific user
- Under User Management, go to the Local Users or Domain/LDAP Users page.
- Click on the target user.
- On the Self-Service Restore tab, add machines to associate with the selected user. The user will then be able to restore the backed-up data of the mapped machines in the Recovery Portal.
Map users to a specific machine
- Under Machines, go to the page of the target workload type.
- Click on the target machine.
- On the Self-Service Permission tab, add domain/LDAP or local users to associate with the selected machine. These mapped users will then be able to restore the machine's backed-up data in the Recovery Portal.
For Microsoft 365

- Join your ActiveProtect appliance to Microsoft Entra Domain Services, which allows users to sign in to the Recovery Portal using their Microsoft 365 credentials.
- Go to the Cloud Applications page and enter the target tenant.
- Click Actions > Edit tenant > Self-Service Permission.
- Enable self-service restore to allow tenant users to restore their Exchange or OneDrive data.
