Failover Settings

On the host server, you can configure the trigger settings, failover range, and failback settings in the Failover Settings tab.

Trigger Settings

You can set up automatic failover so that the surveillance services will be failed over to a standby failover server when the specified conditions occur on your recording server.

To set up automatic failover:

  1. Tick the Enable automatic failover checkbox.
  2. Configure the following conditions to trigger the failover:
    • Server disconnection duration: Specify the period of time after disconnection of recording server to trigger the failover.
    • Storage status: Determine to trigger the failover upon the specified abnormality of the volume.
    • Package status: Determine to trigger the failover upon specified abnormalities of the Surveillance Station package.
  3. You can enable or disable the Stop failover automatically when the recording server comes back to normal option according to your needs and preference. With this option enabled, system will automatically stop the failover status when the failed over recording server comes back to normal, and restore the service according to your failback setting.

Failover Range

To set up the functionality during failover status:

  1. Select either of the following options of the Functionality drop-down list:
    • Full: The failover server will take over the entire surveillance services of the recording server.
    • Full (except recording): The failover server will take over the surveillance services of the recording server, but no recordings will be archived under failover status.

Failback Setting

If you wish to restore the recordings and snapshots taken during the failover status back to your recording server when it resumes working, tick the Failback with the recordings and snapshots taken during the failover checkbox.
