Overview

At Virtual Machine Manager > Overview, you can have a quick glance at the current status of your virtualization cluster. Any errors occurring to its hosts, virtual machines and storage resources will also be shown to help you keep your cluster working properly.

Cluster Status

The overall status of the cluster is shown at the top, alerting you to any errors detected on the hosts, virtual machines, or storage. Possible conditions displayed in this field include:

  • Healthy: The overall condition of your cluster is good, and the cluster is functioning properly.
  • Attention: The status of the cluster is abnormal, but the services are still functioning. It is recommended you check the concerned resource and troubleshoot the problems.
  • Danger: The cluster is malfunctioning. Please check the status of the concerned resource and perform maintenance to troubleshoot right away.

Note:

  • Frozen Host:
  • When the host is frozen, most of the operations are prohibited in this condition. A host will become frozen in either of the following situations:

    • The host is not able to exchange information or communicate with other hosts in the cluster.
    • When the software are being upgraded, one or more hosts are running incompatible DSM or package versions.

Warning Messages

Below the cluster status, you will see three categories: Host, Virtual Machine, and Storage. The status, resource quantity, as well as the total number of alerts detected on each category will be shown. You can click any of the categories to view detailed information. The following are possible conditions in which warning messages will appear:

  1. Host
    • The host is offline.
    • There is an abnormal network connection between the hosts.
    • If more than half of the hosts in the cluster are offline, the cluster will stop working.
  2. Virtual Machine
    • In the following circumstances, the status will be changed to Warning:
      • Network connection errors occurred.
    • In the following circumstances, the status will be changed to Error, and you will not be able to power on the virtual machine:
      • The host is offline.
      • The storage is full, crashed, or missing.
  3. Storage
    • In the following circumstances, the status will be changed to Warning:
      • The storage is running low on space.
      • The storage is degraded.
    • In the following circumstances, the status will be changed to Error:
