Email

In Notification > Email, you can set Surveillance Station to send notifications by email.

To enable email notifications:

  1. Tick Enable email notifications.
  2. In the Recipients field, enter one or more email addresses. Ten addresses are allowed. Separate the addresses with a semi-colon (;).
  3. If necessary, add a subject prefix in the Subject prefix field. The prefix will be added to the subject of each email.
  4. From the Service provider drop-down menu, select your email provider.
    • For Gmail, click Sign in to Gmail to authenticate the account.
    • For Yahoo!, Outlook, or QQ, enter the Username and Password.
    • For custom SMTP servers, enter the server information and customize the settings.
  5. Tick Attach event snapshot if you wish to receive snapshots along with notifications.
  6. Tick Enable email interval limit if you don't want to receive notifications of the same event repeatedly. Specify the frequency in the Minimum interval between each email (min.) field.
  7. Click Apply.
  8. Click Send Test Email to test the connection. If you do not receive the test email, check your settings.

Note:

  • The Attach event snapshot and Enable email interval limit options are only available for Surveillance Station events.
  • To determine how many snapshots to attatch to notificatinos, go to the Advanced page to modify Event snapshot settings.
  • The maximum number of notifications within a period of time depends on the service provider.
  • To reduce the number of notifications, try adjusting the event detection sensitivity and threshold, or go to the Advanced page to modify Notification Combination settings.

To set up a custom SMTP server:

  1. From the Service provider drop-down menu, select Custom SMTP server.
  2. In the SMTP server field, enter the IP address or domain name of the SMTP server.
  3. In the SMTP port field, enter the port number of the SMTP server.
  4. Tick Require authentication if you wish to enable authentication, and enter the Username and Password.
  5. Tick Use secure connection (SSL/TLS) to enable secure connection.
  6. If necessary, customize a name in the Sender name field. The name will be used in emails sent from Surveillance Station.
  7. If necessary, customize an email address in Sender email field. If left blank, the email address in the Recipients field above will be used.
  8. Click Apply.

Note:

  • If you enter a domain name for the SMTP server, make sure that a valid DNS server IP has been added in DSM > Control Panel > Network and that the server is connected to the Internet.
