Edge Recording

Edge recording allows you to record and store videos directly to an SD card. In the event of an unstable network, it can be used as a temporary backup solution.

To enable edge recording:

  1. Go to IP Camera. Select your Synology Camera and click Edit.
  2. Go to Recording > Edge Recording.
  3. Insert an SD card and click Mount.
  4. Select one or more events that will trigger edge recording.
  5. Select a stream profile.
  6. Click Format Camera Storage to remove all recordings stored in the SD card when needed.

Note:

  • For a wireless Synology Camera, Surveillance Station does not guarantee that all videos stored on the SD card could be retrieved during unstable connections. To check the signal strength of your Wi-Fi connection, go to General > Wi-Fi in the camera's web interface.
