Expansion
Selected Synology NAS models support multipathing to maintain a constant connection with expansion units. Multipathing significantly increases the expansion units' service availability and overall transfer speed.
Once your Synology NAS is connected to one or more expansion units via SAS cables, you can go to the Overview page to view the connection status. Messages will appear on this page if connection or availability issues occur.
Note:
- To see which Synology NAS models support multipathing, please visit the products page.
- The system requires a few minutes to update the system configuration after SAS cables are connected or removed. You can check the Overview page for the latest information.
- Please note the following information about SAS ports:
- Make sure the system has only one primary SAS port and one secondary SAS port. Warning messages will appear on the Overview page if extra SAS ports are detected.
- Make sure to set up multipathing with your expansion units if your system has SAS ports (i.e., one primary and one secondary).
