DS get (Android)
Version 1.11
With DS get, manage your downloads anywhere you are with your Android Device, directly to your DiskStation. In addition to viewing your Download Station status, individual task information, controlling key settings such as download schedules, DS get also has an inbuilt browser to conveniently start downloads, and integrates with Chrome. Even better, you can use keywords to search for content, just like in Download Station.
Before You Start
Before using DS get, make sure you have DSM and Download Station installed on your Synology NAS. Basic configurations must be managed from a computer with access to Download Station, such as setting or modifying the advanced download schedule.
Login and Logout
DS get allows you to log in to Download Station securely and effortlessly. You can protect your connection via SSL/TLS connections and verify the server certificate installed on your Synology server. What's more, logging in to Synology's suite of mobile apps is made a lot easier with the single sign-on mechanism. This only requires you to log in once and then you will be automatically signed in to the other apps without being prompted to enter user credentials.
To log in to Download Station with DS get:
- Do either of the following:
- Enter the following information on the login page:
- Address or QuickConnect ID of the Synology server: this can be either the internal or external IP address, DDNS hostname, or Synology QuickConnect ID. Make sure you have enabled QuickConnect at Control Panel > QuickConnect in DSM before logging in with QuickConnect ID.
- Your user account and password.
- Tap the arrow button next to the Address or QuickConnect ID field to select previous login credentials from the list of your login history or find Synology servers in your local network. A set of credentials can be removed by tapping
on the right of the chosen entry and then Delete.
- If you want to secure your connection, do the following:
- Turn on HTTPS if you want your connection to be SSL/TLS-encrypted. Before doing so, make sure the HTTPS service is activated at Control Panel > Network > DSM Settings on your Synology server.
- Enable Verify certificate by going to
> Login Settings to validate the SSL certificate installed on your Synology server. This verification works if the installed certificate is trusted (you will need to purchase from a third party issuer).
Troubleshooting:
If you fail to log in, do the following:
- Log in to DSM as admin (or a user belonging to the administrators group), and go to Control Panel > Privileges to check whether the user account has permissions to use Download Station.
- Check if Download Station is using a customized port. For example, if the port is 9920, you may need to add the port to the IP address/DDNS hostname as in “fun.syno.com:9920”.
Note:
2-step verification is supported to provide extra security for your account. If 2-step verification is enabled, you will need to enter a one-time verification code in addition to your password when logging in.
To use one-time password:
When 2-step verification is enabled for your account or enforced by the admin on DSM (6.0 and above), you will need to log in to this Synology mobile application with your user credentials and the 6-digit code retrieved from Synology Secure SignIn or other authenticator applications for safe access.
Note:
When 2-step verification is enabled on DSM (6.0 and above), your mobile device can be remembered for convenient and safe login:
- To have your device remembered, select Trust this device on the login page. Your device will be remembered for 30 days; if you log in again within its validity period, your device will be remembered for another 30 days.
- To stop trusting the device, go to DSM > Options > Account > Account Activity > Trusted Devices and click Untrust other devices.
To simplify logging in:
IP addresses (or QuickConnect ID/hostnames) and user accounts are shared between the login histories of the different Synology mobile apps. To avoid entering user credentials multiple times, tap to enable Remember IP address and account. Disable the option if you do not want to share credentials among apps.
You can enable Remember me on the login page to remember the password of your user account. You will always be automatically logged in until you log out of the app. Note that enabling this option will only save the password for DS get but will not share it with other Synology apps.
Note:
- To launch the Remember me option, please enable Remember IP address and account first.
To log out of DS get:
Simply tap > Logout.

You can change the destination folder of your downloads from within DS get itself. This is useful for example, if you wish to download a movie directly to the \video\Movie folder on your Synology NAS.
- Download Station: Go to Settings > BT/HTTP/FTP/NZB or eMule > Location > Default Destination Folder. This setting can be changed for your account, and will apply by default when you create download tasks.
- DS get: When creating a new download task, you have the option to modify the destination folder for the download in question: this will not change the global setting.

Searching Torrents Online
The torrent search is a convenient tool to find torrents by using keywords, and download them directly, without the need to use the web-browser or copy-paste the torrent’s URL.
To search and filter results:
Go to BT Search, and then input your keyword(s) to perform a search. In the result list, you will be able to:
- View basic information, notably the file name, the size of the torrent, and the number of seeds and peers.
- View detailed information about the torrent, such as website and time of upload.
- Tap
to filter your search results by torrent categories: audio, books, videos, games...
- Tap
to sort your search results: this allows you to change the criterium to order your torrents, such as by size, number of seeds or peers, time of upload...
Note:
- The number of seeds is how many users have completed the download and will share it with you. A torrent with a high number of seeds will be quickly downloaded.
- The number of peers is the total of users having completed the download (i.e. seeds) and those currently downloading (i.e. leeches). By comparing the number of seeds and peers, you can determine the number of leeches and see which torrent should be quicker to download.
- The torrent categories are read from the website itself, and might vary with a different BT search.
To download torrents:
- Download the torrent directly: The torrent will be downloaded directly to the destination folder selected in your Download Station.
- Open the external link of the torrent: This can be useful if you want to visit the original website of the torrent.
Note:
BT search only supports Download Station version 3.4 or above. If you are using an older version of Download Station, you will not see this feature on your DS get.
