Browsing Settings

You can adjust the way DMA devices browse the media on your Synology NAS.

To change how your music files are displayed:

Select a format from the Music display format drop-down menu.

To change how your photos are displayed:

Click the Sort photos by drop-down menu to sort them by file name or date in either ascending or descending order.

To quickly browse images:

Select Transmit low resolution images instead of the original images.

To set album cover (for music files without an embedded image) or video thumbnails:

  1. Select Display cover image for audio/video files.
  2. Enter Filenames such as Cover.jpg, and the image with the same filename under the same folder as the music files will be displayed as album covers or video thumbnails. The filenames are case sensitive, and the filename listed closest to the front will be used when multiple images are available.

To show video's title using embedded information instead of file name:

Select Show video's title using embedded information.

Note:

  • This setting does not apply to the Video Station category.

To browse and play the radio stations listed on Audio Station:

Select Enable Internet Radio.

Note:

  • Starting from DSM 7.1.1, AAC conversion is no longer supported, as most end devices widely support AAC. The playback of AAC files via the Internet Radio feature relies on your device’s capabilities.

To integrate Video Station database into Media Server:

Select Integrate Video Station database into Media Server to sort video files efficiently by integrating the data structure provided by Video Station. You will be able to navigate between categories such as By Director and By Year to access video files more easily on your DMA.

In addition, if you want to browse the videos added to Favorites and Watchlist in Video Station on your DMA, you can enable them by clicking Video Station Collection.

Note:

  • This function is only available on specific models which support Video Station package.
