What are the differences between QuickConnect and DDNS?
Details
QuickConnect1 and Dynamic Domain Name System (DDNS) allow you to remotely access your Synology devices. They share similar functions but are inherently different in terms of network process. QuickConnect allows your Synology devices to establish an indirect connection to your Synology products, such as DSM and SRM, through Synology QuickConnect servers. In contrast, DDNS can establish a direct connection to your Synology products.

Notes:
-
QuickConnect and DDNS support connections to both DSM or SRM. - To connect to your Synology device through DDNS or a public IP address (including a specified port, such as https://220.xxx.xxx.xxx:5001), you have to set up port-forwarding rules to your Synology device on the parent router or modem.
- When you connect to QuickConnect server, a Let's Encrypt certificate will be applied automatically.
