Synology Chat is an instant messaging service on Synology NAS that provides users with an efficient way to communicate and manage information. Once an administrator has set it up, users can use Synology Chat as a fun and customizable platform for team collaboration and communication.

• Complete privacy: Ensure confidentiality with optional end-to-end encryption for conversations or channels.
• Chat plugin: Enable Chat for Synology Office and MailPlus to communicate directly within the applications.
• AD/LDAP support: Connect to existing company directories to let users sign in directly with their credentials.

DSM version 6.0.2 or later is installed on your Synology NAS

1. Go to the Package Center and install Synology Chat Server. Doing this will automatically download Synology Chat and Synology Chat Admin Console.
2. Follow the instructions in the Synology Chat Admin Console section to set up Synology Chat. After all the settings are configured, users with the appropriate permissions can start using Synology Chat.

Synology Chat Admin Console is designed to centralize settings for administrators to manage configurations and messages in Synology Chat.

On the Settings page, configure the settings as needed for your Synology Chat deployment.

View logs

On the Log page, you can check recent operations and login activities in Chat.

Look up and manage messages

On the Lookup page, you can audit unencrypted messages from all users, except for messages in My Space.

• Search operators are the same as those used in Chat.
• To hide or delete a certain message, hover your mouse over the message and select the Hide message from user or the Delete message icon on the upper-right corner.
• To delete all messages found, click the trash can icon in the upper right corner of the side bar.

Manage channels

On the Channel Management tab, you can monitor, hide, show, or close System, Public, and Private channels.

Using Hyper Backup, you can back up Synology Chat to local or remote destinations so you can restore the package data and settings to a previous point in time later on.

The following data can be backed up once you’ve successfully created a task:

• Channel message history
• Channel settings
• Conversation message history
• Conversation settings
