Troubleshooting
Any abnormalities detected on the cluster or its members will be listed on the Overview page. This section will explain the errors and alerts you may encounter, as well as the ways in which you can troubleshoot each problem to ensure the cluster work properly.
To troubleshoot errors in the cluster:
- If the host is offline, please check and repair the network connection or the hardware configurations on the host.
- If the host gets a warning of abnormal network, please follow the suggested actions according to the network analysis.
- If the cluster becomes frozen because more than half of the hosts are offline, please check and repair the network connection or the hardware configurations on the hosts. Alternatively, you can try to create a new cluster.
- If the cluster becomes frozen because one or more hosts in the cluster are running incompatible DSM or package versions, please upgrade all the hosts to the same version.
Note:
- For more information about software upgrade, please refer to the Upgrade and Compatibility page.
To troubleshoot issues on the virtual machine:
- If the virtual machines are shut down unexpectedly or are in abnormal status due to host or/and storage errors, please resolve the issues first to let your virtual machines return to healthy status.
To troubleshoot issues on the storage:
- If the volume is full or is running low on space (i.e., the available space is less than 10% of the total space), please delete some data or expand the volume size.
- If the volume is degraded, please repair the volume as soon as possible.
- If the volume is crashed, please remove the volume.
- If the volume is missing, please check the status of the host and the volume.
- If an error occurs to the volume, it means inconsistent data has been detected. Please contact Synology support for assistance.
