Joystick
For quicker and more flexible deployment, Surveillance Station has integrated joystick control and offers you an alternative way to manage your camera preview and live view. With this function supported, you can replace the mouse with an integrated joystick to monitor all your cameras and safeguard your environment much more efficiently. Check out the supported models for more information.
Note:
- This application has to be enabled in Application Center.
To manage the live view in Surveillance Station:
- Plug in a supported joystick into your computer.
- Check if a joystick icon appears at the top-right corner of your Surveillance Station. If your computer cannot detect the joystick after plugging in, move the joystick or click buttons on the joystick to help detect it.
- Click on the joystick icon to open the settings window.
- From the drop-down menu, set an action for each of your joystick button, which will act as a hot key for the action assigned here. The following options are available:
- Enable/Disable PTZ control: Enable or disable pan/tilt/zoom functions.
- Joystick settings: Press and hold for three seconds to open or close the settings window.
- Single/Multiple layouts: Switch to single or multiple live view layouts.
- Snapshot: Take and save the live view image.
- Home: Restore the camera back to its default position.
- Show/Hide information: Show or hide the camera name and status.
- Fixed aspect ratio: Preserve the image's original aspect ratio.
- Full screen: See the live view in full screen.
- Manual recording: Start manual recording.
- Pause/Resume: Pause or resume the live view.
- Preset: Select an existing preset position for the camera to go to the chosen preset.
- Patrol: Select an existing patrol path for the camera to patrol.
- Next preset: Go to the next preset position you have set up earlier.
- Previous preset: Go to the previous preset position you have set up earlier.
- Auto pan: Enable camera auto pan.
- Object tracking: Enable camera object tracking.
- Digital output: Activate camera digital out.
- Audio output: Activate camera audio out.
- Switch VisualStation monitor: Switch the target monitor to be controlled by the joystick when using VisualStation with multiple monitors. This function is supported only on VS600HD.
- To modify the settings in the future, click on the joystick icon at the top-right corner again or use the hot key specified above to open or close the settings page. Click Reset if you want to restore the settings to default.
Note:
- The settings and options above can only be applied to the live view operation. When managed with a joystick, camera preview only supports PTZ control and does not support the configurations above.
- You can switch between joystick mode and mouse mode by pushing the L+R buttons on the joystick handle.
- By default, you can switch to other live view channels by moving the joystick handle in four directions (up/down/left/right).
To manage camera preview:
- Open a camera preview.
- Do any of the following:
- Turn the joystick handle in circles to zoom in/out.
- Move the joystick handle in four directions (up/down/left/right) for pan/tilt functions.
To adjust PT speed control:
- Fixed: You can go to IP Camera > PTZ Control > Advanced to adjust the fixed speed.
- According to the joystick amplitude: The PT speed is in proportion to the joystick amplitude. Supported PT speeds depend on camera capabilities.
To import or export configurations:
Click IP Camera > More > Export to save the joystick settings to a shared folder for future use, or click Import to import a configuration file from a shared folder.
