Purpose

Resolution

Synology DSM desktop can be accessed via the default ports 5000 (HTTP) or 5001 (HTTPS). You can check your DSM ports at the following locations:

  • For DSM 7.0 and above: Go to DSM Control Panel > Login Portal > DSM > DSM port.
  • For DSM 6.x: Go to DSM Control Panel > Network > DSM Settings > DSM ports.

To force DSM to redirect to HTTPS connection, follow the below steps:

  1. Sign in to DSM using an account belonging to the administrators group.
  2. Change from HTTP to HTTPS at the following locations:
    • For DSM 7.0 and above: Go to DSM Control Panel > Login Portal > DSM, tick Automatically redirect HTTP connection to HTTPS for DSM desktop and click Save.
    • For DSM 6.x: Go to DSM Control Panel > Network > DSM Settings, tick Automatically redirect HTTP connection to HTTPS (for DSM desktop) and click Apply.
  3. Synology NAS will apply these network settings and refresh the page.
  4. Once applied, all connections to your DSM desktop will be forced to use HTTPS.
