SNMP

SNMP service (at Control Panel > Terminal & SNMP > SNMP) allows users to monitor Synology Unified Controller with network management software. Currently, SNMPv1, SNMPv2c and SNMPv3 protocols are supported.

Enable SNMP Service

Tick Enable SNMP service and follow the steps below.

To enable SNMPv1, SNMPv2c service:

  1. Tick SNMPv1, SNMPv2c service.
  2. Enter a Community name.
  3. Click Apply.

To enable SNMPv3 service:

  1. Tick SNMPv3 service.
  2. Enter a User name and Password. Choose the Protocol you want to use.
  3. Click Apply.

To enable SNMP privacy:

  1. Tick Enable SNMP privacy.
  2. Choose the Protocol you want to use. Then enter a Password.
  3. Click Apply.

In addition, entering Name for Controller A and Controller B, Location, and Contact helps you identify your Synology Unified Controller. These fields are optional.

Note:

  • IPv4 and IPv6 are supported by SNMP service.
  • SNMP service supports SNMPv1, SNMPv2c and SNMPv3 simultaneously.

SNMPv1, SNMPv2c community limitation:

The community name must be in the range from 1 to 64 displayable characters. The following are not allowed:
" ' \ and space.

SNMPv3 user name limitation:

The user name must be in the range from 1 to 64 displayable characters. The following are not allowed:
" ' \ and space.

SNMPv3 password limitation:

The password is case sensitive and should be in the range from 8 to 127 displayable characters, including letters, numbers and signs. The following are not allowed:
" ' \ and space.

SNMP privacy password limitation:

The password is case sensitive and should be in the range from 8 to 127 displayable characters, including letters, numbers and signs. The following are not allowed:
" ' \ and space.

Synology provides the ability to monitor Synology Unified Controller via network management systems, including system, disk, and the status of RAID volumes.
