In User > List, administrators can view and manage system users and generate reports.

Differences in User Management by Admin Role

  • Surveillance Station administrators: modify user privilege profiles and edit the account activation schedule.
  • Surveillance Station administrators in DSM administrator groups: manage DSM-synced user information. This includes more comprehensive tasks such as adding, deleting, disabling, or enabling users, as well as editing user accounts and passwords.

Manage a User

To create a user:

  1. Click Add.
  2. Enter the required information and add a photo.
    • If you wish to limit the activation time of the user, tick Activate account by schedule, and click Set Schedule to set the timetable.
  3. In the Privilege Profile page, select an option.
    • Choose an existing privilege profile: Choose a profile from the drop-down menu and confirm the privileges.
    • Create a new privilege profile: Follow the wizard to continue. (Learn more)
  4. Click Done. The user will be synchronized to DSM.

Note:

  • User name:
    • The user name is case sensitive and can contain 1 to 64 Unicode characters, excluding the following symbols: ~ ` ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) = + [ { ] } \ | ; : ' " < > / ?
    • The first character cannot be a minus sign (-) or a space; the last character cannot be a space.
  • User photo:
    • The display dimensions of user photos are 125x95 pixels. Larger images will be resized with the aspect ratio maintained.
    • Supported image formats: BMP, JPG, JPEG, GIF, PNG, SVG.
  • Account activation schedule:
    • For users in various time zones, the activation schedule will follow the time zone of the server’s location.

To edit user information:

  1. Select a user and click Edit > User information.
  2. Modify the required information.

To edit privilege profiles for users:

  1. Select users and click Edit > Privilege.
  2. Go to the Information page to change the information.
  3. Go to the device and service pages to tick or untick checkboxes and modify privileges.

To activate/deactivate users:

Select users and click Activate > Activate/Deactivate.

To generate user reports:

  1. Select users from the list or privilege types from the right panel.
  2. Click Generate Report > For all categories/For this category. The report will be downloaded in HTML format.
