Advanced (Administrator Only)
At the Advanced tab, you can determine an account system that stores the Synology Contacts user accounts, and also migrate contact information from Synology MailPlus to this package.
To switch to another account system:
Synology Contacts allows user accounts in three types of account system on Synology NAS to access contacts: local users, domain users, and LDAP users. You can switch from one account system to another by following the steps below:
- Go to the Account icon > Settings > Advanced.
- Click the account system to which you want to switch in the Account System section.
- Click Save to change the account system.
Note:
- Contact data of local, domain, and LDAP users are stored separately in Synology Contacts. Therefore, a user will not be able to use Synology Contacts if his account system is not the current account system of Synology Contacts.
To migrate contacts from Synology MailPlus:
For Synology MailPlus 2.2.0 or later, contacts will be automatically migrated to Synology Contacts once it is installed. If the automatic migration fails, you can still follow the steps below to migrate contacts manually:
- Go to the Account icon > Settings > Advanced.
- Click Migrate in the Contacts Migration section.
- Click Migrate again in the pop-up window to start the migration.
Note:
- In Synology MailPlus 2.1 or earlier versions, contacts will not be migrated to Synology Contacts automatically. When you update Synology MailPlus from earlier versions to 2.2, the contacts of MailPlus users will be automatically migrated to Synology Contacts. However, if a MailPlus user's access to Synology Contacts has been disabled before the migration, his contacts will be skipped during the package updates. If you grant such users access to Synology Contacts after the package updates, the number of these newly enabled users will appear under Successfully migrated. You can click Migrate to migrate them.
- The following is the conversion table of contact information migrated from Synology MailPlus to Synology Contacts:
Synology MailPlus To Synology Contacts Mail client > Contact Group > Label Local Contacts (not including Contacted) > My Contacts Contacted > Suggested Starred > Starred Contact data synced from external sources (not including Contacted) > Address book with the same name
To disallow users to share address books:
- Go to the Account icon > Settings > Advanced.
- Under the Shared Address Book section, tick Disable the sharing feature to prevent users from sharing address books.
Note:
- Address books that have already been shared will not be affected.
