I cannot find the uploaded videos on Video Station. What can I do?

Purpose

The uploaded videos to Synology NAS must be indexed to be displayed on Video Station. This article will guide you to make sure that the videos are indexed to appear on Video Station.

Resolution

1. Make sure the upload is successful

  • There is a possibility that the files have not been successfully uploaded to Synology NAS. You can check if the files can be found in File Station. If not, please reupload them.

2. Make sure the files are located in an indexed folder

  • Uploaded videos will be indexed automatically only if they are located in the folders configured in Video Station > Settings > Library. For Video Station to display your videos, check if the folder path of the videos is correct.1

3. Make sure the indexing process is finished

  • If you added a video to Video Station, the index status of your video will be displayed next to the folder path. Please wait until it is complete.

4. Manually re-index all files

If you still cannot find the videos, manually enable indexing:2

  1. Go to Video Station > Settings > Library.
  2. Select the folder path where you store the files, and click Re-index all files.

Notes:

  1. Indexing videos mounted on a remote folder are not supported.
  2. Uploading files via SSH, NFS, or other third-party packages will not trigger auto-indexing. You must manually enable indexing for them to be displayed on Video Station. For your convenience, we suggest to upload files using File Station, SMB, or AFP instead.
