How do I sync data from multiple Synology NAS using Cloud Station?

Purpose

Synology Cloud Station allows you to synchronize your computer with your Synology NAS. Cloud Station also allows your PC to be synced with more than one Synology NAS, and you can create multiple sync tasks to protect multiple folders on your PC with one or more NAS servers. This tutorial will show you how to sync multiple NAS with your Mac or PC.

Environment

Cloud Station is installed on your Mac or PC. For instructions on how to set up Cloud Station on Mac or PC, refer to this article.

Resolution

Add another Synology NAS to sync with your Mac or PC

To add a new NAS:

  1. Launch Cloud Station by right-clicking on the Cloud Station icon in your menu bar (Mac OS X) or system tray (Windows) and selecting Main app.
  2. Go to Sync tasks and click Create.
  3. Select Another Synology NAS. Enter the address or QuickConnect ID, username, and password for the Synology NAS that is running Cloud Station.
  4. Select Advanced setup.
  5. Select a folder on your computer to keep synced with a folder on your Synology NAS.
  6. Click Sync rules to limit the folders and file types that you don't want synced. You can also set a maximum file size limit to prevent files over a certain file size from being synced.

  7. Click Apply and follow the wizard to complete the setup.
  8. After setup has been completed, a new connection will appear in Sync tasks.
  9. You can create more sync tasks with either of the connected NAS, or add another NAS by following these steps again.
